I believe you are supposed to loosely fit the runners in place before you bolt the fuel rail down.

Yes,
re-read my earlier post. The runners have to be loosely mounted THEN the rails go on.

That part you are holding is the EGR solenoid. Its usually bolted to the water neck under the TB. A vac line runs from this solenoid TO the EGR valve. The solenoid has another vac line to the underside of the TB....THAT is the ONLY place where it can connect because that is a special port called "ported vacuum".

I moved my solenoid to the back of the alt bracket so I could get to the vac line for EGR testing. That's optional.

DO test for GAS leaks BEFORE you finish mounting evetrything else. I use vasoline to lube the injectors for fitting into the intake. Can't afford to damage or twist an O-ring. High pressure gas....will leak at ANY little spot.
Once the rails are on, attach fuel lines and test the system by turning the key on/off 3 or 4 times. Build the 40 psi and search every injector and rail tube for leaks. use the gas pressure test gauge to help watch for leaks. If there is a leak the pressure will fall off immediately and you should be able to smell it.
I use keenex tissues to wipe around things because they will show ANY sign of wet.

If no leaks are found, drop the plenum in place. Tighten lower runner bolts. Tighten upper bolts. Add TB. attach cable bracket and cables,. Connect TPS and other harness things...temp sensors etc..
should be good to go at that point.

Default Where do these wires go?

I am almost finished. I have two wires that I don't know where they go. They are near the plug for the distributed cap. One is red and one is white. I know the white is suppost to go to the distributer but not sure if it goes to batt or tach.

White is tach if I remember correctly. And when my plugs looked like yours, it was my # 6 oil ring. I saw your compression is good, but mine started out on fouling on one bank, and got worse. I hope this solves it for you.

Red or pink is 12v ignition power to the distributor plug it into the Bat terminal. The pic shows that you have the wrong wire connected to Bat.

RED to battery, white to tack on distributor.

Remember what I told you in the earlier posts....label every wire, hose, nut and bolt.......this is why......

I got the car started! Why is the car surging? It still runs a bit rough? Tomorrow I will check the injectors and move the distributor one tooth over.

Is there any thing that could help run smoother? How smooth does this engine run?

What it this booster looking thing to the outside of the master cylinder? It has a throttle cable attached and a boot on it?

L98's idle perfectly smooth unless they are modified, have a bad cylinder(s), injector(s), vacuum leak, tune problem etc. Timing needs to be 6* BTDC set when the EST wire is disconnected.

The thingy next to the master cylinder with the cable going to the throttle body is the cruise control actuator.

Virtually all vehicles have been using plastic MC reservoirs for the last 30 years. They do get brittle with age = no BFH use in that area.

Good luck
