Anyone know if I swap out stock intake on 89 l98 for idelbrock high flow 3860, will I notice any feel of the pants gain?

I believe it should be a direct bolt on. You will notice no HP gain or seat of the pants gain.

Rarely will one mod make much difference. They are usually done along with others for a true increase in power. Matbe the Edelbrock, some SLP runners and porting of the plenum, runners and intake would develop into some noticeable gains.

One mod that will bring noticeable gains is long tube headers. Couple that with free flowing cats and mufflers with a true dual set up and you will be very happy.

Its all about air in and air out. You have to increase both ends to notice anything.

Its a start. Some good runners will help it along. Add headers youll be liking it.

If you want an instant "seat of the pants", noticeable change on the performance, the easiest way I can think of is changing your rear end gear ratio. From my understanding most of the 89's used a 2.59 rear end ratio and I think changing that to a 3.08 would give you quite a boost. Just my 2 cents worth and nothing more. Might be cheaper too.
