Actually it's close to normal, but I'd definetly check between the condenser and the radiator. Our C 4s are like a Hoover vacumn cleaner, they suck up everything from leaves, cig butts, plastic bags.

My 87 had a bunch of stuff. Does your vette have the auxillary fan, besides the normal fan?

yes I think so that's the outer fan right...I heard it come once.. I thing the thermostat don't open until 205.. I assume it a 195 t-stat but I will check the radiator for trash...Thanks for your time

i would have it replace ASAP. my current fan failure experience, as near as can be determined, has resulted in me needing
a new or rebuilt more. long, long, story, but i did experience several major engine overheats ( into the RED, 260°F ).
I've listed previously the saga leading up to this but, I've had two separate shops do a coolant dye test. both found coolant in the oil. with original set of heads, I've had two other sets installed ( both used, with the last set being magnafluxed ).
shop #3 feels that with the heads having been removed several times, along with the 3 - 4 major over heat cycles, the block
has been compromised. he quoted $11k for a rebuild. looking at a new LS3 crate motor ( $7600 from jegs ).
would also do the clutch at the same time ( still on the original at 162k miles ).
as it sits now, i could get maybe, $4k-$5k for it. with a new engine though, it's almost a new car ( zero miles engine & clutch ).
not that i have loose change laying around, but pay-pal will let me finance it. still have the labor costs though.
bottom line, fix that fan!
