First off like to say how-D im a new boy in town .. yesterday I picked up 86 from a widow she didn't know anything about it ,an no manuals. my question is. on the edges of the seats there are rolls of buttons may I ask what they are for?? I punched on them a nothing happens, The seat control in the middle works fine, Can you all help me , Thanks

i have only just bought my 90 c4 which has sport seats the rocker switches in the lower bolster on mine move the seat backs and the upper bolster and pump up the air bags it the back of the seats and the three buttons control how much air you let out hope this helps

Your vette is equipped with 'sport seats'. If you lift the seat (see wire on front of seat to remove seat) you will see a small black housing with tubing attached. That is the air pump that fills the bladders in the seat back. The pump is prone to failure as the rubber diaphragm is quite flimsy and ruptures, jamming the pump mechanism. The repair is simple (see seat repair under TECH TIPS). You can make a new diaphragm using an old bicycle inner tube, and a 1 1/2" diam. punch. If a new diaphragm doesn't fill the lumbar bladders, the bladders may have leaks. Replacing the bladders is not so easy.
Or, you can just add a pillow, if needed, to provide support to the lumbar section of your back.
