Default 87 Timing Chain

Has anybody used the Summit SUM-G6600-B timing chain set? Did you have to double up the cover gasket for clearance? Did you have to double up the water pump gaskets so the water pump plate screws don't hit the timing cover?

I'm looking for a billet geared true roller TC set that fits behind the stock timing cover.

I used a Cloyes double roller on my car and it fit fine under the stock cover. An extra gasket was not required.

Cloyes has a bunch of sets... do you have a part number?

Some of them have iron cam gears and will fit under the factory timing cover. I'm looking for both gears billet (no iron).

Sorry for the delay. Its been a few years since my build and I can't locate my receipt for the chain. Browsing through the chains on Summit, I think the part number was 9-3100.

Thanks.
The 9-3100 has an iron cam gear and according to Cloyes catalog (page 11) is for a non-factory roller small block. Maybe you have the iron gear 9-3145? The C-3092 and 9-1145 also have iron cam gears. The 9-3545X9, 9-3645X3, 9-3645X10, 9-3145A are the Cloyes billet gear factory roller cam sets... but most likely will not fit behind the factory timing cover without dicking around with extra gaskets etc.

I contacted Summit and they suggested their own set for billet gears but they also said I may have to double up the cover gasket. It's "may" part of that response that led me to ask the question here.

You are correct. I found one of my old posts that I indicated that I used the 9-3145. I can tell you that, on my car, it fit under the stock cover with no issues.
