Default Hood

Ok new to forum. I bought a 91 vette which the engine was hydraulic locked from the previous owner. Fixed all that with parts from my Z28. I had a mishap a few monthes ago and now am getting back to it after I finished a few other projects. My girlfriend was driving and had a deer run out in front, didnt hit the deer but instead scraped a tree. Long story short I needed a new hood or extensive fiberglass work as the right side fenderwell and front corner were tore up. Ended up getting a hood at a pick a part. Believe it or not they had a c4 in the front parked! Problem is the hood is an 84. it hits the radiator expansion tank and pcm. I didnt even notice an expansion tank on the 84, I can cut and modify the bottom of the hood but was wondering if this hood is worth anything or maybe someone would want to trade since it is a one year only. Sorry for the long post....thanks

You will need to swap the under hood reinforcements from your old hood to the 84 hood. You may only need a few sections. measure and take your time, use a heat gun to soften the bonding agent and some flat scrapers to pry them lose. To re-install the make sure you get the correct bonding agent. Again take your time or you will bust the parts you need.

'84 to '91? Big difference! That sounds like a TON of work! The "beltlines" are different, as well as the hood supports and the internal air ducts, between the '84 and the '91. Is there no hope of finding the right hood? Have you talked to your salvage yard?

It's a lot easier to just get the correct year, (91-96) hood.
