Looking at my car last night trying to come up with ideas on how to remove some weight .. Looking on the front bumper , it looks like some weight can be reduced by removing the Impact bar, has anyone eve removed it and was able to secure the bumper ? is this even needed to mount the bumper ? Any ideas tips would be greatly appreciated . Thanks

If you drive the car on the street removing that piece would be safety foolish just to save a couple of pounds.
You never explained why you are trying to reduce the weight of your car? Personally if I wanted to lose weight, I would go on a diet before removing a safety device on my vehicle.
This is a full time drag car .. The front impact and skid plate brackets are close to 25lbs right of the front nose . The car is already on a diet need to remove more weight if possible to make up for the weight of my new engine . My block alone is 70 lbs heavier than factory block
I gutted the insides of my front bumper a couple of years ago. Got rid of the impact bar and saved just enough to support the bumper. I have a full fiberglass bumper, not urethane so it didn't require much support. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures but the parts removed were weighed at 22 lbs.
Mine is a fiberglass deal as well since it's an 86 with upgrade 91 front clip . Did you end up removing the impact bar i have a picture off in my 1st post ? Thanks
I used a sawzall and removed as much as I could. I can't remember if I saved some of the impact bar for support. I'm out of town now. I'll look when I get back. Most all the honeycomb is gone. I left just enough to keep the bumper on. Here's where being a dentist has an advantage over being a doc. I'm better at grinding stuff.
