Default Something Missing???

I have been inside my door replacing the front window guide.

Once I open something up, I like to look around, especially if it looks like someone else has been in there before.

I learn about how things work and sometimes, I find something that looks like it might be missing. I know. I know. Don't look too hard because you might find something!

But I did.

It seems like there is something missing in the door lock mechanism. If you notice on the diagram, there is a receiver for the linkage rod labelled "9". My linkage rod is simply laying free behind the piece that has the hole in it. Perhaps the missing receiver should mount in the hole and then the linkage rod go into it.

See Photo and Diagram.

Anyone been in their door and have any first hand knowledge if the gizmo that rod "9" goes into appears to be missing from my door lock?

Thanks,

Jim

You might try mentioning THE YEAR when looking for help but since the C4 door latch mechanisms are very similar all years, I don't see anything missing. It should be very easy for you to confirm, you should be able to lock/unlock from the outside with key, lock/unlock with both the mechanical ****/lever or power actuators and open close with out side and inside handles. If everything works "all's well".

Again I see nothing "obviously" missing. All looks in order.

There could be a small insulator/anti-rattle that is missing but nothing major. I don't believe the insulator was present for all years. '92+ is a GM# 10215230

The part number mentioned is correct for your application BUT I believe I'd find a "rubber bumper/rubber feet" assortment in a good hardware store and buy an appropriate diameter one that fits the hole and then trim it to an appropriate height. An install pulling it through the hole shouldn't be difficult. Most of this type of bumper have a fairly long tail.

Do you "need" it? NO
