Default 1990 Obx install

Hi,
I'm an Australian with a 1990 coupe.
I've been on here a little and everyone has been helpful.
So I need to ask about the obx header install.
I have searched and there are mixed opinions about obx,
Though they all said they are great once in. I have been doing the install myself, learning about the l98 as I go, I'm a noob with these cars.
My concern is I got the passenger header in place but it is touching the Heat guard for the fuel lines. Does this guard need to be bent so not touching?
The driver header is in too and touching the guard for the brake lines. Again do these need to be bent to make room or can I take off. Will there be hear issues?
But main issue with that header is the oil hose and filter are touching the pipes to.
I thought these headers would have fitted better and not needed bending to clear the oil filter.!?
Is there another filter I can buy that's smaller.
The part that the filter screws onto, can I turn that so oil hose is out of contact with header?
Sorry about the long thread. Any help appreciated.
Thanks Tyson

Tyson,

Just to clarify. You did purchase the 85 - 91 OBX header kit correct. I personally have the LT1 OBX headers. They did need
the slightest adjustments. They may not be high grade stainless
but they are stainless. making them a excellent value. Performance wise. I believe pound for pound they OBX will give very close Dyno results to many competitors!! @ 1/4 the price.
and yes!! You should route your lines away from the headers
To eliminate a fire hazard. Ps the clamps are terrible. I suggest stainless T-clamps.

Hi, yes I got the 85-91 obx, as they have the air fittings.
I don't think the lt1 does!?
They are nice and solid feel. I think good value
So I should remove the shields??
The lines metal will they be ok not touching header.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Sean, mine is left hand drive. So the headers should fit.
Do you know what oil filter I can get here in Aus?
Thank you.

you seem to be having some issues with those headers considering you are still left hand drive ! if the clearance problem is only heat shields etc, then start bending them out the way.

you can buy the short oil filters for gen1 chev pretty much anywhere, have a look on e bay to get an idea.

Definitely, wrap the brake lines with heat wrap as the headers will get very hot!...

I did not know that the oil filter was the same as the LS engines.

I will wrap fuel and brake lines, thanks

Tyson, how is your install going? Where did you buy your OBX headers from? I tried buying the L98 headers from Racing Parts Depot and they said they were several months out, I followed up a few months later and no response. Maybe Australia has a better retailer?
