I'm looking for a wing to pair with a splitter I will make for Daytona next year. Trying to find viable cost effective solutions. Junk yard said they would sell for $150. I'm wondering if this is just for looks. I need something effective from about 60 to my top out of 170mph.

99 % ARE just for looks. They are NOT structurally integrated to the frame, NOT specific to any yr model car, and if you think about it, they probably ADD more drag than downforce.
Just a fiber glass route for your money to take on its way out of your wallet.
much to my dismay i think they are hideous and ruin a beautiful car but fwiw it has 4 points it attatches to the body. not sure what with. id take this off and send it to you but then id have holes to fill and paintwork and im selling this 85 in the spring.
Kind of what I figured. Although the reason I asked is the big lip it has on it seemed way more aggressive than I'm used to seeing. And yes I agree they look hideous. However unlike 99% of everyone with a. C4 I actually need the down force and functionality. The car starts lifting "just a bit" at 170mph.... Made me a little nervous.
A lot of the super cars that are being manufactured overseas usually have a rear wing attached. Some are used to prevent lift and also as a brake assist. Although some of them may look cool, there presence is not efficient until speeds of 125mph plus are achieved. There are many more aerodynamics built into the body lines on super cars besides having a rear spoiler. I am assuming you are talking about a rear spoiler as your pics are not shown.
Tommy
The Greenwood wing attached through the body onto the frame. There are lots of copies but I believe that's the only wing that actually attached to the frame. It might be worth looking into.
heck, look at the last few Zr1 tails.....the "duck-tail" design is what that 'super-car' utilizes and it will break 200 easily.
There are also some interesting "air-foils" that mount to the HOOD to accomplish the same thing....to press the car down at high speed.
Another means is to totally seal ioff the underside. make it like a boat. That aids in keeping low pressure under the car, which is the same thing as high pressure over the body. In other words, the faster it goes, the greater the force is sucking it against the road surface. Look at some NeckCars (nascar) and you will see the "pan" on the underside.
What about transmission heat with sealing off the underside? Does anyone have a link to the air stream passage over the top of a pre 1990 car? Does it even touch the rear lip?

I'm sure there IS such research from the "Corvette Challenge" days....
who or where to get it? Google might be a place to start the search.
I did a quick, easy google search for "wind tunnel test C4 corvette" and came up with all this....and there are 30 pages after this too.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
