Default LT4 Headers

Anyone have experience with the Stainless Works or American Racing Headers in their '96 LT4?

I'm interested as well, 96 LT1 both look good to me, but some real world experience would be welcomed. Tough decision! Mine is a Vert. so I need 2 1/2" pipes underneath because of the "X"-brace I know that. I already have my cats removed, so I'm looking at "off-road pipes", would like to bolt up to a CORSA system already in place.

Have heard nothing but good from American Racing Headers. Fitment is probably the best out of all of them. Stainless Works I am sure is right there as well. If they are close on price I would go ARH.

NASCAR- sent you a PM.

I have the ARH 1 3/4" with cats on my 96 LT4 GrandSport. They fit very nice if you do a search you will find some of my posts on some issues I had. ARH was pretty good about taking care of parts that were needed for the install. There was some fabrication on an alternator bracket (cutting and welding of the bracket to make it fit), some stainless spacers were needed, and heat barriers for the relocated cats. But again the headers fit perfect and are of extremely high quality.

I ran the Stainless Works on my 383 LT4.They have 1 5/8 primaries where a lot of the others use 1 3/4.Figure out which is best for you(the 1 3/4 would likely give a few more ponies in the upper rpm with a 383 or larger engine so long as the exhaust wasn't a restriction).

Either will be fine so opt for the better value.FWIW I ran mine through the 1 5/8 headers and a 2.5 Corsa catback and manages 442 rwhp with pump gas and not a huge cam by any means.

Thanks for the feed back. Did you have to do any mods like GRANDSPT (above your post) with the alternator bracket needing to be cut and re-welding with his ARH's?

If you look up my old posts the bracket was more of a rear support rod for the alternator (not the main bracket). ARH said that most people can eliminate that rear support rod. I did not want to eliminate anything if GM put it there it probably needed it for a reason. To be fair I think most header installs no matter what brand will require a little fab if you try and keep all the stock emissions in tact.
