One of the biggest concerns with your new gears (providing everything is set up properly), is damage from overheating. Your first trip should only be about 20 miles and then let the differential cool off completely. After that, you can increase your trip lengths, but excessively long trips should be avoided. It is also recommended that the gear oil (+ slip additive) should be changed at about 500 miles on the new differential. This is of course to remove any metal particles or coating that came from the new gears.

I am putting 3.54's in my 85 the week :)

It has been a little over a year since I did mine, but I believe Zips break in procedure was 3 trips, 30 miles each at about 45 mph. Then 1 trip for 200 miles and that was it. You do need to let it do a complete cool down in between each trip. Call zip and ask for Justin. I feel sure he will walk you through it. I did what ever they recomnended at the time but I must admit, I have never seen any break in procedures mentioned with any new car purchase. I wonder if it really is necessary. But just to be safe it cant hurt. Good luck with your new gears. You will enjoy them.
