OK this is the deal: 94 Vette, coupe. No electronic A/C. Base system.
The A/C system freezes up when it is on any thing but...recerc.(low side gets all frosty) It will freeze up in the morning...but not in the heat of the afternoon. It will start to loose air flow and the fan motor sounds like it is working harder, then zip airflow.
I pulled apart the condenser house and cleaned up in there...very little blockage :yesnod:
I'm going to have the system recharged this week :yesnod: I hope this helps the problem.
I can't see any leaks in the system  ...but I will have the shop look for them while I'm there.
Before I do the recharge is there anything else in the system I should look at that might be part of the problem?
Yup switch is on the low side line. Check that out first and make sure you have the proper charge. Gauges will let you know if there is any problem internally.
there are switches on both sides. so if you're not familiar with the system, you won't be able to determine which is which just by looking for a switch.
hooking up the gauges would pretty much tell the whole story. i know there are a few possibilities, but a low charge is the likely culprit. due to a slew of bad compressors, i've charged my system a couple of times in the last 2 weeks. the low side line froze pretty hard when there were only 2 cans of refrigerant, and the ice would melt as the 3rd can went in.
