Default 1992 Auto HVAC help

On a '92 Auto HVAC, is it a normal condition that the heat blows full hot on 90 degrees, but anything below that it feels like it's mostly cold air coming out? It doesn't seem like it's blending the hot and cold on anything under 90. Not sure if this is normal for this old system or if something is wrong. The A/C DOES work.

thanks

My 94 does kind of the same thing. When initially driving and when it was cold outside and after engine warm up, I would set it about 74 or so. But after some time period and when the cabin has warmed up, I found pushing the temperature up to keep it warm. At some point I get to 85 and it is still cool and not warm or hot. But then to get some warm air in the cabin you jump it to 90 and it blows hot.

I just considered it normal for my car. I think the temperature sensors for the automatic control (micro processors) get warmed and thinks it's warm enough. There is a lot of electronics for the automatic climate control which is mainly in the programmer. I just don’t know if it is age on the car or that it was just never really a perfected auto system from day one. But my car has always worked like this and I have it 10 years so I think it is the latter.

Try the diagnostics on the system and see if you have any error codes:

I did check for error codes and nothing came up. The customer ended up taking the car. He didn't want to spend much time looking at it that day since he was waiting and had somewhere to go.

Thanks guys

I don’t think you will really find much actually wrong. Think it will be a wild goose chase going nowhere. I suspect it is the design of the system. Unless someone who has owned the car from day one and could substantiate that the system worked different or better when it was new.

That's what I was thinking too, So I was glad he didn't want me to look further into it. Normally I would compare it to a similar vehicle, but C4s are rare at the dealer, especially when it's cold out.
