Does a 1985 use a 6 or 4 terminal relay for the headlight motor?

This question has something else behind it, but to answer your question, there are three relays in the headlight door circuit, two have five terminals, and the other relay has four terminals.

Now, would you like to explain why this question?

My first suggestion would be to find yourself a Factory Shop Manual (FSM). You'll find it very useful!

Knowing what the problem is goes a long way to helping with the given problem.
Two of the relays operate the headlamp motors (1 for each motor) and the are the same p/n. The other relay is a "isolation" relay which functionally changes current polarity to each motor so the motors run backwards to lower the headlamp buckets.

And I also agree that getting the FSM will be a huge help in working on the car. The FSM is a two-book set and one of the books will have complete wiring schematics including electrical diagnostic procedures.

Where is the isolation relay on a 85?

An '85 FSM shows a slightly different configuration that I'm not familiar with but it will be in this vicinity. All 3 under the cover? I'd think but the '85 FSM hints different. Randy M, Joe C, IHBD or someone should be by to confirm like this or slightly different.
