yah it actually surprises me they would suggest welding. Rather, provide a printable template and a diagram how to position it, drill holes. unless the 85/84 doesnt have the metal where the 86+ does. maybe he meant weld on a metal plate then put the holes in the plate.
Me too but that is what he recommended. I am not going to do that though because it can be bolted in securely using the nut inserts. I am still waiting on the shipment and will update all when I get it in.

I installed the Vrtte2Vette braces on a 91 coupe that had 110,000+ miles. The job was easy and I did it on my garage floor with a floor jack and jack stands. The product is heavy duty and extremely well made.
I would equate the driving experience with the targa off as like that of driving a new car. I have a set of 3 rail road tracks that I have to cross to get to the interstate and the before and after experience was remarkable.
I took them off and sold them to another Forum member before I sold the car this previous summer as I did not think they would add that much value though.
I know that a lot of folks here have pooh-poohed the engineering and cannot see how they could possibly work. I loved them though and loved driving the local twisty roads after installing them. Felt like a Corvette again. And boat guy - I removed my old exhaust (from front Y to exhaust tips) and installed a new system with no access problems whatsoever.
