Default Need topend advice...

I am considering heads/cam/intake for my 95 auto. From my research, I see that with stock LT1 castings, you can fit 2.00/1.56 valves but with AFR heads, they allow up to 2.02/1.65 valves. I also noted that on the LT4 castings, the power level of a ported LT1 casting can be achieved. So would a ported LT4 casting be that much better or overkill? Are the AFR heads better? I want to maintain emissions legal status, am not looking to go too radical, would like to make 450hp+ at the motor and it is my daily driver. I already have TPIS long tubes with a TPIS catback.

Thanks for your input, I am being very cautious before dropping $5k.

Mike

your valve size choice should depend on the lift and duration of the cam. You won't need a cylinder head that flows beyond the limits of your cam. The stock LT1 casting are a nice flowing head after some bowl and exhaust runner work. I would use your stocker heads and have some quality port work as well as valve job done.
