ok heres the problem. the truck runs 160-170 around town, but when i get up on the highway, cruizin 2750-3000 rpms, it starts to slowly rise. i was on the highway for 30 min today, and it went up to 200. my engine never runs that hot, and if it did, its because im in town with the a/c on. not on the highway. and it was only 80 degrees outside so it wasnt really hot..any possible ideas why the truck would run hotter on the highway? this just started in today.
also, when i get off the highway at the toll booth or whatever, i can see the temp immediatly start slowly dropping back down to 170-180...
an s-10 with an LT4 ..... your scaring me :) most of the reasponces for engine temp would include the ecm is programed for 235 degrees. i don't think you included the 96 ecm with the engine. in a corvette 200 degrees would be down right cold. so check your radiator cap and thermostat and clean the radiator and make sure your fans are working.
good luck BTW i'm not sure how your truck is geared but 2750 - 3000 rpm is screaming (if your were in a vette) avg hwy rpm 1500 to 2000 unless being provoked :D

Re: Cooling Problem/question (AVTekk)
LOL wth A TRUCK WITH AN LT-4? LOL you've got ballz man. That's unfamiliar territory and a problem just waiting to happen. Is your truck an auto? Sure there aren't any leaks? To tell you the truth.........I'd be surprised if you DIDN'T have any problems ............seeing how that engines being used by a truck. LT-4 problems in vettes are sporatic and unpredictable enough as it is.
