Default I need help__expensive alternator problem

Hello.

3 years- 3 alternators

yesterday it happend again, the alternator broke down and the battery warning light turned on. I have noticed some strange things before it broked down. When im drivning normally and also under boost the alternator gets so hot so icant put my hands on it. Sometimes under full boost the battery warning lights come on and then i see on the batterycharger gauge that the voltage drops to 11,8 from 14,4v. I have the procharger alternator fan wings mount on the alternator, good or bad?

If I change to bigger or smaller pulley on the alternator, will that help or?
Anyone who knows something or am I lonely with this expensive problem

I hope someone will help me

regards

Tomas

Thomas,

I had the same problem, only worse!!! I was going thru alternators every few months. But I have it solved.

Call the PowerMaster folks: http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/

They sell a chromed alternator for our cars. I believe it was about $190. Well worth it. Also make sure that you buy from them a special fan for that alternator. They sell a bullett aluminum fan for our alternators that will properly cool it when it spins in the reverse direction.

I put this setup in my car a year and half ago and it has held up :yesnod:

I think you can see it

Also you will note that I ran a 1" rubber tube from the blow off valve and piped it to cool the rear of the alternator with a 90 degree PVC elbow. Extra cooling can't hurt.
