I've got a dry 100 shot in my car, bottle pressure is usually between 900-1000 PSI....I just use the "hit the button" setup up......usually hit the button around 3-3,500 rpms under WOT, then I hear it spray, but I don't really get thrown back in my seat or anything, it just feels like the car starts being pulled forward a bit by some unseen force.....maybe I should just go out and get some times so I can see if possibly my nitrous isn't kicking in fully or something.
LETS SAY THAT YOUR VETTE WEIGHT IS 4000 LBS FULL OF GAS AND WITH YOU IN IT . AND THE CAR RAN 13.5'S IN THE QUARTER YOU WOULD HAVE 270 HP TO THE GROUND . NOW ADD 100 HP TO THIS AND THE CAR WOULD HAVE 370 HP TO THE GROUND (MOST NOS KITS RATE HP TO THE GROUND ) AND SHOULD RUN 12.25 AT 106MPH
THE OTHER THING IS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE A SLIPPAGE PROBLEM , EITHER WITH YOUR CLUTCH OR TIRE SPIN. ALSO CHECK PILL SIZE THAT THEY ARE THE RIGHT ONE. BUT ANYWAY HIT THE BUTTON AND YOU WILL FEEL IT BIGTIME
I don't get thrown back in the seat like they do in the movies if that is what you are asking. I generally just feel it pull harder. Maybe my assometer needs adjusting.
1 more question: I'm going on vacation a bit, and my bottle is running low allready.....nitrous refill stations will fill just 3 or 4 pounds if you want, right? (I'm guessing yes, seeing as they sell N2O by the lb.) Cause I don't need to refill my whole bottle, still have 1 or so pounds left (at least I think I have a bit left, because I still hear the 'hiss' when i hit the button), but I would like to fill a couple (3-4) pounds on top of that....
yeah, i think I might have a little bit left after beating a 03 cobra convert. last night on the highway :) ....i guess I'll do some purging (I should see some fairly thick white gas coming out if there's still some left, right?....will it stop spraying when the nitrous runs out, or will it just keep spraying (clear) air?)
If you are out of Nitrous, it will still blow out any pressurized air that was introduced into the system while filling the bottle. The reason to purge the whole bottle and refill fresh is to get all the excess non-nitrous air out of the bottle. Quickest way to find out is to crack open the bottle with it out of the car. If a big white fog comes out, there is still a bit in there.
I have been told that you get a better fill if you purge the bottle just before it is filled. The bottle is colder and you get rid of the old gas. On the other hand maybe the guy just wanted to sell me more nitrous. :yesnod:
WIth my setup, I'm using a TNT 150 hp kit. It feels like invisible hands are trying to pull me out of my seat through the rear hatch glass. I'm almost worried about doing damage to the seat, lol! It also does this in 3rd and 4th gears! I haven't tried it in 5th yet. 2nd just spins.
