My C4 wasn't running because it wasn't getting power to the fuel pump (ended up being a fusible link). Now that I've fired it up there is a noticeable ticking noise coming from the engine compartment that wasn;t there before. The sound does not get louder when I open the oil filler cap, so I think it is an injector or my EGR. My brother and I think the sound is due to cranking the engine without gas in the system a few times. Does anyone have a similar experience or advice on how to find/fix the problem?

My 84 does that and I found it was the Butter flies in the throttle bodies. No big deal, so I live with it!

Is the ticking throttle dependent, does it rise with the RPMs?
If so, I had a similar ticking noise on my '90. I had originally thought it was a lifter tick but it turned out to be an exhaust leak where the weld for the EGR pipe and passenger exhaust manifold met. Had to get an EGR pipe off a junked C4 and had to buy headers since no company is manufacturing OEM exhaust manifolds. Gotta love forced upgrades!

christian, i have an 85 and the injector noise is LOUD.
do this around your engine to zero in on your source for the noise.
its actually pretty cool to do. you will hear the tick...but when you put your "stethoscope" onto the part actually making the noise...it will be LOUD. Y used a normal screwdriver with a rubber handle. You don't need a monster like this. BE VERY CAREFUL there are moving things in there and you could get sucked in!
after doing this with a screwdriver, i bought a 5$ used mechanics stethoscope off craigslist. amazing how different things sound.
Just unplug the injectors one at a time, if the noise stops you have pinpointed your loud injector, if the noise persists it's not an injector causing the noise....No need for stetoscopes or screwdrivers......WW
