Default 1987 Carpet Question

I need to replace the red carpet in the 87 I recently purchased. The car was originally red, but then was repainted maroon. I would like to install carpet that goes better with the Maroon exterior. I can't figure out the OEM color scheme's by the descriptions/names I find online. What OEM color am I looking for?

If the car was paintd red at the factory, the interior color choices would have been red, graphite, or saddle. The red carpet would have been very close to the color of the OEM leather seat cover or maybe just a bit darker.

The red carpet in the 84 and 85 cars was just a bit darker than the red from the 86-92 years. I think the problem in finding the right color may be more of an issue with getting the correct model year carpet package so that the pieces will fit properly. You might be able to figure something out here

Tom-

Below are all the factory color for both 85 and 87 colors.. 84 and 85 used the same red as did 86 and 87...

But if none are the color you want I can have the carpet done in any color pretty much with no upcharge. (except what ACC calls extreme colors).

If you don't want a factory color you can go to the ACC website which is ACCMats.com, enter your year and info... and select carpet. then select a carpet set from the list and at the bottom you'll see "Color" Select all or a specific shade and it will give you all the options available. If you need help with this contact our sales staff at 800-588-3883 and they can walk you through it.

Below is a link to our forum special section that has discounted prices for forum members. Our current sale will get you an addition 10 percent off the prices.

I checked that Corvette America link too, looks like they have a pretty good set for a decent price.

Edit: Didn't see the last post before this one.

Hey Wilcox, I read this on your $420 carpet set (Crpt07APCFSWDP) for my 86 coupe: "We carry and sell this carpet but it is not our favorite choice. History of mismatched colors and issues seem to bring this set down in our book."

I find the honesty refreshing, but it doesn't lead me anywhere else. What do you recommend that's better?

After replacing the Carmine Red carpet, I'd suggest the heavier backed product than the lighter, which I bought.

I did some tinting by spraying red RIT dye into slightly faded carpet that was in otherwise good condition. Using an airbrush , I matched the colors quite well.

I'm still working on those link. We only install ACC in our shop and if there is a problem they always seem more than willing to help us work it out. All the other links on that page are ACC carpet sets available in different ways.

Mass Backed, with door panels
Mass Backed, without door panels
Plastic Backed, with door panels
Plastic Backed, without door panels.

for both coupe and convertible.

When I said "doesn't lead me" I wasn't referring to another link. It was the thought process. Let me try it another way.

Is the color mismatch you mentioned within the kit, or from kit-to-kit? In other words, after I install it, will the left side be the same shade as the right side in my car, and all the other pieces in the one kit? Are there faded or heavily-dyed areas, etc. What is the color mismatch issue?

For me, any notable variation within the kit would not be acceptable, but I couldn't care less if my kit didn't perfectly match the next guy's, who also bought a graphite kit.

Does that re-define my question better?

For a link, I would expect, I guess, a link to another product you guys prefer for its consistency, over this product.
