When does your 90/91 abs pump self test?

When does your 90/91 abs pump self test?
Ok, this question might be premature because I am testing this with no fluid in the system since I have a broken line off the master cylinder and am waiting for one to arrive (zr-1 uses a braided hose off the M.C). Went down the street very slowly about 5mph:
I replaced the abs pump and fixed some broken wires in the abs harness and the system came to life, the abs light came on for 4 seconds with key on, then again briefly and off with engine start. No lights stay on the dic and strangely, even though the mc has no brake fluid the brake light will go out with emergency brake off.
Let's say your abs pump just did its self test in forward or reverse at 3 mph. If you then stop car, turn it off and restart, will it do another self test? Mine is doing the initial test, but not repeating the test after key off and repeating this process. Just wondering if your car does self tests abs motor every time the key is cycled
