The one in your engine is specific and is securely mounted to the stud/bolt for the exhaust manifold. Many of these aftermarket dipstick are not correct due to the mark on the gauge may actually be different than the factory gauge.

A little. Previous owner or mechanic cut the tab off that attaches to the exhaust manifold bolt. Don't really feel like fabricating a tiny bracket if I can get a new trick looking dipstick for around $15.
Just trying to sort through all the little problems and quirks one by one on the car.
Has anyone used this dipstick? Its on ebay, says it fits any 80-up passenger side mounting SBC including the LT1.
I put one of these on my '81 Corvette after breaking the OEM one. Tight fit and near impossible to use. The metal braid will make a nice tight turn, but the dip stick itself will not and will not go in all the way.
Save your money and get an OEM one or make that bracket.
