On my 84 I never had to remove the c beam. I removed the 2 bolts from the tail stock and the one closest to the diff. Than move the beam out of the way and lowered the tranny to get the bell housing bolts out. The tranny came out without any problems. I hope it goes back in just as easy.
84 4+3 I fallowed the instructions in my Hanes manual and it's not within an inch of coming off the tranny or the diff jammed tight against the body. Do you loosen the tranny from the clutch housing? I need help here cause I'm not even close. I have removed the four bolts that hold it in place and moved it forward as far as it will go and back as far as it will go and it still lacks an inch coming off of the tranny or the diff. The driveshaft is also removed
Also there is a cable attached that can not be removed from the tranny do you take it loose from the top and pull it with the Tranny?
Thanks to all I just wasn't prying hard enough to get it back took about all this old man had but I got it just the way you said. All the help is so very much appreciated. Now to replace all clutch components and I think I'll let a professional rebuild the overdrive trans.
