The Procharger helped my car in a big way. I have no dyno #'s yet, but they are coming soon. I feel my car Gained the power Procharger claimed. I would say Procharger is the way to go. That is only my opinion. Procharger has a complete kit down to wire connectors and heat shrink. The installation manual SUCKS!!! I am a mechanic and it took me around 20 hours to do a neet install. There are some things I had to do that were not even covered in the installation manual, like a longer coil wire, cutting all the rubber intake ducts, removing my passenger horn, and a lot more little things. The hardest part of the install is getting the hood to close without hitting. It takes forever to fit the intercooler just right for the hood to close. I would not recommend someone with a basic mechanical knowledge to install this kit. It was a real challenge. As far as performance goes my freind has the same setup on a 94 LT1. He ran 9.03 in the 1/8 mile with only flowmaster exhaust. After putting on the 8psi intercooled Procharger, with nothing else added, he ran a 7.89 in the 1/8 mile. To me that was a Huge performance gain. It should be huge for $4 grand!!!
I am very happy with my charger and i will be honest they are a pain to dial up but when you do WATCH OUT! I currently have the D-1 (not the SC) and i am running a 10lb pulley. I am getting right now some belts slippage but i think that is because i am leaking oil on my belt (duh)! But all in all i am very happy and i love the looks i get when i pull up next to a charged mustang and theres is quite and they look over and say"GOD what kind of blower do you have on there" i say "PROCHARGER" Also i never had a problem with customer service from ATI and i will admit it did take a bit for me to get my charger..maybe 6weeks? But i was not in no hurry (winter) so i would say for the money! GREAT Investment! I know with my charger they said i could hit 17lbs of boost no problem? I the future we will see! :D
I have had mine so long that I forgot about the horn but I did not remove mine I modified the bracket and put it back on. Yes the instructions SUCKS
I keep reading about all sorts of problems that guy's are having with overheating and belt slippage blowing oil esc. but I have none of these issues when installed properly you will love it if done wrong you will be posting about how bad procharger is. How well it works depends on the install and tuning. I built my first blower motor back in 1976 have not been with out one since then.
I have been happy with my ProCharger. As Black Bart detailed above, the degree of satisfaction is directly proportional to the effort applied in installation. If someone does not take the time to do the install right, there will be complaints, and more than likely these same complaints will be voiced on the forum. I have used most all of the brands available, and must say that I prefer ProCharger over the others.
I liked them enough to use them again on a totally new project. That must say something about my degree of satisfaction.
There is a lot of help available on the forum, do not be afraid to use it.
Hey i will admit i had a procharger shop install my stuff and they did a half A job but i never talked bad about the power or the product. Yes i had to go threw and look at everything and make sure things were done right but after all that i am happy with the PRODUCT :D So if you want Vtech go for it but speaking from experience and had bad luck at first i am happy in the long run! Hope this helps i am a proud owner of my D-1 :yesnod:
The estimated installation time is 20-25 hours, which is actually the most complex kit to install. The only negative feedback I received about Procharger is their shipping time, customer service, and belt slippage. I have not heard to many complaints on belt slippage for Vettes, it’s mostly on mustangs, so this might not be an issue. In my personal opinion Procharger does make one of the best systems for the Vettes, and overall I heard more positive feedback than negative. Good luck.
The instructions need "re-looking" at. It definately would take an average Do-it-Yourselfer a while to install. My opinion... have someone either help you (that has one) or a shop install it that has installed one.
Basically what Blown96Vette said... in a nutshell. I had cooling problems and slippage problems, but both were my error, and easy to fix after I figured out what I did.
I am a big Turbo guy, and might eventually change my '85 to a single turbo... but for now... I really like the procharger... and like the others said.... I can't crank it up at a gas station... without someone looking at me or my car and wondering... "Geez, would you listen that that thing"... its written all over they're face. Performance Gains are Great.... I don't have dyno #'s yet... but "Seat of the Pants" Gain makes me looking for cars to race.
