Reducing NOX
Which system reduces more NOX: EGR or AIR ?
Let's say I had a 1991 L-98 that did not have either system(theoretically speaking of course). The car bairly failed a NOX test , which one might bring it down to acceptable levels?
Here is good example:
25MPH 15MPH
HC(ppm) 33 32
CO 0.00% 0.00
CO2 13.3% 15.5%
O2 1.8% 1.5%
NOX 1084 ( need 848) 1173 (need 937)

Whichever one will reduce your combustion temps and the exhaust gas temps the most. NOx is produced when excess oxygen combines with nitrogen at high temperatures.
Racing gas burns 'cooler' than regular pump gas. Some 100 or 104 octane unleaded may help.
What's the operating cycle? My shop manual isn't handy. I think the AIR system runs more than the EGR valve opens, but I don't know for sure.
