Default 02 sensor question.

After elininating the pre cats, should I replace the 02 sensor? Will it be an issue if I don't?

Thanks

For all the more they are, I would recommend you change them, they have a huge impact on non-PE driving.

I just had to tack down a bad connection on my car's heated O2. It was pretty apparent that something was wrong. I have both a scanner and a WB02. My non-power enrich driving situtations got real sluggish. I first saw the WB02 would go to WAY rich when just a small amount of gas was added. Then it would come back to around 14.7. The scanner then indicated very little or no movement in mv reading.

I put it up on the lift and sure enough there was a bad connection. Took about 5 minutes to resplice the wire. The snappy throttle response is back again and all around performance was restored.

Its funny that no SYS light ever lit either. Upon reading, I learned that there are only certain parameters that will set the SYS for an 02. One being the absense of the sensor. I must have still been within those. Nevertheless, I could feel a definate lack of power.

All in all, I would recommend you change them. You will save what you spent in fuel economy, and also I'm sure you will notice a gain in performance, if it was never changed.

Good luck!
