Default Comparison?

Has anyone done this? How does it compare to at stock intake on the L98?

It's a lot of work and I wonder what the gain is.

looks like it might flow more air but wouldn't the velocity be slowed way down thus losing tq? Looks a bit like the eldebrock high flow runners.

Kinda look like homemade SLP runners. Dick Gulestrand (sp?) did something like this with his GS cars but I am not sure how much of the insides he took out. I have seen the SLPs pretty well opened up, almost to the point of cutting thru to the outside. Do some searching around on ported SLP runners or maybe some of Gulestrand's work.

You also have to make sure that the rest of your airways are matched to what you are doing with the top end. The opening up of the runners wont help if its still restricted by your intake manifold. Remember the air in-air out deal as well. If you increase the amount of air going in you have to make sure the amount going out matches what you have done. If these principles arent researched and acted on it will be a bunch of wasted effort.

I've recently seen some photos of that mod but haven't seen any information about it yet. Curious myself.

Your effort:gain ratio is little.....

That was an interesting modification back in the day.

Like all things, we learned a lot about these intakes and overall technology in them and moved on.

The TPI intake is low/mid range torque monster.
If your looking for more RPM consider changing to short runners like the LT intake.
Someone will chime in with the parts and pics.

There is the Accel Super Ram intake that is out of production and if you can find one its at least $1000 and more.

Maybe 10 HP if you're lucky? On other stock parts.

Not worth it, IMO, and it is trying to make the TPI something that it's not.
