my car bumps up and down forever when i run over a bump in high speeds. I guess my shocks are bad. I got the FE1 springs, can I make the car handel ALOT better with harder shocks and keep the fe1 springs? What about adjustble konis?
And my car is lowerd to much in the front, i cant even drive in to my own garage without using long bords as ramps :/
Can i just put in some spacers on the front spring? What to use, and is it importand that the rear and front is level?
I had a similar problem with my 95 coupe bouncing forever. I was also very unhappy with the way it was handeling in turns. I changed the shocks and sway bars but left the springs alone (also added cross bar and camber bar). It now feels like I am driving a diferent car. Much more solid much more confident. I am using the QA1 shock which I chose over Koni due to the ease of adjustment (just reach under the car and turn a *** no need to remove shocks!!). I autocrossed the car today and was very pleased with how it handeled. The best part is that at the end of the day I could turn the shocks down a few notches for a more comfortable ride home :) .
For handling alone, new springs or sway bars would be benefical. However, your stock composite spring will not wear out or sag unless it is delaminating or otherwise damaged. Either way your shocks need to be replaced(the shocks will raise the car a little).
I just put a post up a couple of days ago about replacing the rear spring with a Vette Brakes & Parts monospring. My original was delaminating. The car handles great - I'm very happy with the spring. The rear replacement was pretty easy. I understand the front is a lot tougher. The cost of the stock springs are about the same as GM.
If it's bouncing you need shocks........springs don't do that........ if it's too low that's a spring problem.......shocks don't support the car .....they control the car............unless they are overload shocks or something like that .......which I have never seen on a Vette......... :seeya
