If the fuel level is low enough loosen the gas cap. It will prevent any expansion leakage. Cant say I have ever had the issue and I have had the fuel lines loose a couple of times. You might also get a couple of vacuum caps and slide over or press in the fuel lines.
I recently finished my cam swap and had the same issue. I ended up just pulling the fuel rail with injectors out of the intake, hooked that back up to the fuel lines and just laid that assembly up on the windshield on a towel. I even had the fuel cap off from the get-go and still had this problem.
Since I took the gas cap off and left it off, no more leaks. I think I took it apart in cold weather. As the weather warmed, expansion pushed the gas out.
