Hey guys.... My roommate "GiJoe" is having problems with his car... Tonight it finally popped an engine code of 44. The car lacks pickup, stutters, and shakes real bad whenever accelerating. The code says it is either the oxygen sensor or possibly something to do with fuel system. I have not checked the fuel pressure, but only to make sure sensor was plugged in ect... Engine is hot, so it is kinda hard to get in there an move/touch things. Does anybody know if this problems would be cause of that sensor, or could it possibly be the EGR valve... I know for certain that the problems he is having can potentially becaused by that.. Any input would be greatly appreciated.. thanx!! :)
Cool... AutoBone...er... Zone has a Bosche OE one for $18.99 w/3mo warranty or a Bosche universal one wo/warranty for $17.99...i was like... Ill be getting the 18.99 one please !
So ill get one of these on my way home from work and plug it in... i hope this works....
ttt one more time... if no one has any ideas, i gonna tell my roomie to take car to vette mechanic and walk in backwards with pants down cause they are gonna rap3 him! :jester
If the car starts normally the fuel pressure should be OK. Low fuel pressure usually results in hard starting. How long has it been since the fuel filter was last changed? Could be fuel flow.
I think he changed the filter not to long ago... but we got another, just got to put it on... Another buddy of mine was looking at the car lastnight.. both him an i agree that it feels like the pressure plate for clutch, but only until car warms up... once it is heated up, it gets nasty.. all jerky and stuff like plug wires are all crossed "they arent, i checked".. oh well.. i guess he just gonna have to go spend some money and have a pro look at it :)
well its about time.. buddy finally took his 89 to shop to get it fixed since nobody could figure out problem... It turns out that it was the MAF sensor!! doh!! i should have checked it harder.. He just got car out of shop, an i figured some overspray might have found its way up in there.. Im not to sure on that for i have no seen the sensor yet, but i find it hard to believe the car goes in for a paint job, comes out running bad.. Put a hole in his pocket, but atleast the car should be running awesome again.. thanx guys!!
