I've got a 92 LT1 with an A4, but don't which one. The comments I've read about this seem equally split between mine having a 4L60 or maybe a 700R4. I've talked to some seasoned Vette techs and some, but not all, claim that the two are really the same transmission. Others say, the two aren't identical but really weren't sure what the specific differences might be. If there is anyone out there who thinks they know the true answer, please weigh in. Also, if there are differences, please mention whether they would complicate a straight swap since I'm considering dumping my stock unit for one that is more "performance oriented" (i.e., weekend warrior craziness).
The 700r4 and 4l60 are the same transmission besides minor upgrades that gm made every year through 1993. Starting in 1994 the 4l60e was introduced and it is an electronic version of the 4l60, where the ecm controlled the shifts.
