Default Alum heads

Hey guys Im rebuilding a 1990 c4 engine, my question is when putting the heads back on I don't rememeber which head goes on what side.. Does it matter? Could someone tell me what bolt holes are on what side I think it's two on the passenger side facing the front and 3 on the drivers? Or is it the other way around? Thanks!

The heads are the same however the temp sensor is on the pass side head. Also if you are thinking of putting a temp sensor switch in the drivers side head for controlling the aux fan remove the plug in the head now while you can get to it. Just a thought.

Just taking a break from moving my foxbody to the polebarn and took a quick pic of my 86. Look closely between the plug wires for cylinder 1&3 Maybe they changed it for 90, I know my 89 Silverado it was there as well.

Doesn't matter though. Regardless of which head you stick on the driver's side, the head will have a threaded port in that location.

Regardless which head you put anywhere I'd make sure that I removed the plug that is in whichever one. Might be wise to also remove the switch/sensor on the other to complete the job, chances are you'll need a specialty sender/switch there to match your gauge pack anyway. Maybe finger tighten new plugs in the threaded ports until you decide what goes where for your package. The threaded holes for hang-on accessories will be easier to "chase" while on the bench also.

*Snapshot was posted while I was "thinking" - I think slow I 'reckon.

Yup that's it.

Also FYI that timing cover may need water pump spacers, just something to check. If so then you may have to space your other pulleys too or press the pump drive hub on a bit more. GL

It's still a sensor that reads water temp and it's in the drivers head
