Tourque converter question.
I can easily pre-load my car for a launch at 2000 rpm. Is this possible with a stock converter? Where do you guys launch from?

Guess depends on the stall limit on the stock converter... I think it's either 1500 or I heard 2400 once.

That's my main question...I wasn't sure a stock converter would allow 2000 rpm launches. I guess it will.

If it does (if it did) then the stock stall limit must be the 2400rpm figure. Not bad at all for an OEM unit, if so.

The analog gauge isn't the most accurate, if you want to really know your brake stall RPM, you should use a scan tool.

2000 RPM out of a stock 95 converter isn't normal. Is it possible someone changed it? A stock 95 won't usually do more than 1600-1650. If you have an 86 or older, then it will preload to 2000.

I suppose anything's possible. I was actually hoping it was changed so I could scratch that off my "to do" list for the winter!!
