The wheel width should not be a problem either but I think that a combination of too wide a tire, the wheel width, and the extra 4mm offset may cause the tire to rub on the frame rail or the outside edges of the body.
What size tire were you considering for those wheels? A 275/40-17 tire may be too skinny for the 10.5" wheel width. A 285/40 tire might be a better size but a 315/35 may be a bit too wide for the wheel well.
I have seen early C4's with "real" ZR-1 rear tires (315/35-17) and wheels used on all 4 corners without rubbing. But the rear ZR-1 wheel is 17x11 with a 36mm offset.
The wheel only with no consideration for the tire dimensionally you'll loose 19mm clearance inboard and the wheel will extend 7mm further outboard.
That when compared to an 11 @ 36 is 2mm less inboard so maybe there's something that needs confirmed for tire choices. Certainly I'd think very doable and I did the comparisons 9.5 @ 38 for the early Z51 product.
I believe a 285/40 is a very difficult find at 17" but I didn't look very hard either. A 275 is considered a reasonable fit I believe by most manufacturers for wheels up to and including the 10.5 you mention.
Can you duplicate the wheel offset in maybe an 18"?

This is my other option with a 275/40/17 tire. I have a 9.5 wheel now a figgered if i was to up grade might as well try to put some more meat on it.
