Default FP setting...

Guys,

As some of you know, I am trying to investigate why my car is running ~6 MPH slower than expected.

One of the items on my hit list to check out is WOT FP. What do you all feel is a respectible number to be running at?

Right now I have it set at 39 LBS at idle with vacuum off and I *believe* that it is around 45 at WOT.

What do you all think?

I am running FMS #24 injectors. My WBo2 is saying I am at ~12.7 through the runs.

I just want to have an idea of what you guys with similiar setup are running for WOT FP. I can tune the AF to whatever I want, just wondering if some power might result from spray patters at different FPs.

Thanks

Your reading with the vaccum line off should be your WOT reading also.

Hmmmm? Yes you are right. Wonder why mine shoot up? Perhaps this is part of the problem.......

I do not have the car here right now, for it is at the glass shop...so I am going off memory..

But I am nearly positive it shoot way up from the unhooked setting, but I could be wrong, maybe it is lower due to the vacuum line, then it shoots up to the set value.

Isn't that terrible that I can't remember now.....

Perhaps I am getting alheimers at 28 yrs old!

I will have to wait and verify. What do you have your set at scorp?

Thanks

I don't know, we have verified my digital gauge is junk, or the sending unit is. I have yet to slap a mechanical on there to check it. As you probably saw I'm running rich through most of my pull, so I'm not worried about it yet.

Set it at 45psi with the line off and go from there. Some like more, some less....there is no magical number that will work for everyone.(unfortunately)

Scorp,

I just did some checking. The new tranny must be keeping the car in the lower RPM ranges due to the fact that it is not slipping like the old tranny was. Here is what I noticed. At ~3000 - 4000 RPMs the AF is way rich and you can hear the exhaust note go real deep and a lack of power. Then at ~4200 it jumps to ~ 12.7 were the car feels unbelievably strong and the exhaust is more tinny sounding.

I think that might be were a lot of my ET is being lost. I am going to try to rig up a video camera to tape the WB display and also the tach to really tune it in. Things change too much to see anything other than general points.

I think I might still be like you scorp. Running pretty rich down low and then getting into the power up high. But just as your dyno and mine looked the torque really drops off with these setups up high.

I think the reason these setups are so good is the down low torque they make.

Before this tranny was put in I know the AF was right around the 12.7 I reported earlier, the only difference now is the tranny really pulls the RPMs back down after shifts.

Guess I will have to spend some time getting it leaned out in that area.

Later...

Sounds like a valid reason to me. Just as I'm bogging off the line, your new tranny not slipping (like me not slipping my clutch) could very well be doing the identical thing.

If you A/F is moving around across the rpm band you have a tuning problem.

What are your shift points with that new A4? What kind of short times is it pulling?

I just drove about 100 miles round trip and I really watched it. It goes from 11.4 to 12.7 in the upper RPM range. I would say that its back to the drawing boards with the tune. It definately changed with the nw tranny.
