Default TPIS intake question for 85

hello to all,

my 85 has the cold start injector.

I'm installing the TPIS Mini Ram

What do I do with the cold start injector.

Do I just eliminate it... Also is there a bracket for the throttle cables

thanks for the help,
nick

........ Leave the cold start stuff with the old Tuned Port Intake Manifold ... depending on which ECM you plan on using , your car might be tough to start in really cold weather , but unless you're modding your daily driver , I wouldn't worry about it ........ TPIS sells a throttle cable bracket for about $35 ... you will need it ...........

I didn't have to purchase a separate bracket for my Miniram.

with the 85 computer and no cold start injector, for a cold start, just push the throttle down about a 1/4, then crank. It should fire up pretty quick.
When you push the accelerator past idle position the ecm will enrich the injectors.
Works for me with my single plane.

You can work around the csi. Just adjust the start process when it is cold. It would help if you got it tuned for the Mini. Mine like some extra spark advance.

Have your tuner spend some extra time getting the initial startup right when the chip gets done. Its one of the main issues I've struggled with on my modified engine.

Hello Vader,

If I may ask, who do you recommend to tune the 85 chip

There is barely anyone left who will tune an '85. I had to do mine by myself because the people who were tuning mine were not tuning it right.

I can tune your chip to the best of my ability over email. I won't charge you a penny.

It will require that you use an AFR gauge though in order to make it run as desired in certain aspects of the tune. Just message me your email address and we'll talk there.
