Need some Help with A/C vent selector!!!!

I am hoping somebody out there has had this problem. 1996 Electronic A/C blows cold air from ALL vents. It actually blows out of no specific vent, just all of them at the same time. I was told by a local Corvette only dealer that the problem resides in a 'blend door' type of control unit (I forgot the technical name) that is located behind the control panel and bezel. This same technician told me that the bad part was around $50 to replace. I know this is a bad description but it's the best I can remember. Anyway, I was removing the low tire sensor service bulb from the dash and decided to look a bit deeper and maybe fix this bad control unit for the A/C. Does anybody know which unit this would be and maybe throw out a part #? Also. I am looking to buy a shop manual for 1996 (for obvious reasons). If you understand this 3 page question, I sure would like some help.
