Default Shock Question

My 1995 needs front tires, currently Goodyear Eagle EMTs. The car has 44000 miles on it. Per carfax I am the fourth owner and am not sure how many miles the EMTs have on them. I assume they are the second set. Anyway, they are worn excessively on the far outside and far inside. I would like to correct this problem before installing new tires. I am wondering if my shocks need replacement. I have standard suspension with Delco Bilstein gas units, yellow in color. Was this the the type of shock installed at the factory? How long can the original shocks be expected to perform?

Sounds like an alignment problem. I need shocks now but my tire wear is fine. You will find the car is more squirmey, loose, and bouncy if you need shocks. New shocks couldn't hurt but I don't think you need them yet. Put the money toward good tires like Pilots or G-Force KD or Firestone SZEP models.

Those are the original type shocks but of course they could have been replaced by the same thing. If they have not been replaced they are most likely due to be.

at 44K, its doubtful that the shocks need replacing, unless you feel uncomfortable with them.

Bilsteins are stock, and are usually good til 75-80K as are most shocks, if you replace, get new Bilsteins.

But you do have an alignment problem, sounds like the tie rods need replacing.
