I was thinking about new cam, headers, and rear-end. I am looking for better lower end acceleration, but someone told me that I should wait until my current engine is toast (it is running fine now w/126k). They said that if I moded my car now, the older stuff that was left would wear out very quickly. Is this true? Am I taking a big risk just changing a few things?
From what all Ive been reading here, it doesnt sound like there is a lot to do to improve the low end (engine wise) with the L98s. Though better gears and a TC would help.
Edited to make more sense :D More edit....providing you have an auto (TC part).
For now do cam, heads and valve train together. Later you can do intake and headers.
A 2,000rpm TC would be great on the street even with 2.59 gears; much more will send your tires up in smoke, especially with more HP comming to them. Check out my lastest 60' time to see how this recipe works; and that's after losing some low end hp to my siamesed base and to mid 90s weather.
Unless you plan on a 383 as your next engine, do the mods now and transfer parts to the next short block.
