SUMMIT F*&%$#@ me again
The title says it all. The first time I ordered gears from Summit, they told me 3 days for delivery. I finally got them 10 days latter. When I did get them, they box had damaged to it. There was a sticker on the box saying since there was damage to thebox that they had opened it and checked the gears and that the gears were okay. BULL*&%$!!! The gears were all chipped up. Both the ring & pinion. I had to pay to ship them back to get new ones. One week later I get the new gears. I took my car to get the gears put on, on Monday. Last night I get the call that Summit sent me the wrong gears and that they dont fit. Turns out they sent me gears for a series 2 carrier. I was very specific when I placed the order both times, that I had 3.07's. So I called Ecklers ordered gears from them and now I have to pay to ship the wrong gears back to Summit. I might not get my car back until next Tuesday now. :mad :mad :mad :mad
sorry about your luck, out of the 50 or so summit orders i've placed i've only had one go the way you described. businesses make mistakes, summit is a great company, you just happend to have bad luck. don't get too grumpy, even the best companies screw up.
Indeed sorry to hear you had problems with your order, it always sucks when things like that happen.
However, I too have had very good service from Summit as well as very good customer service. Though I've not had any issues with Jeg's I prefer Summit.
It sounds like the carrier damaged the gears on the first shipment and should refund any return shipping charges. On the second shipment of the wrong part try an appeal to Summit's customer service and maybe an e-mail to Summit.
Why do you have to pay for shipping the parts back. Just tell them they screwed up and they are responcible for paying for shipping. They will allways do that as shipping for them cost next to nothing for them. Call them back and insist on it.
I send stuff back to summit on ocassion as well....Summit always pays for the return shipping.
I have done business with them for about 10 years now and have never had a problem. If there was something in question it was with the shipping company and even then they took care of it for me.

Re: SUMMIT F*&%$#@ me again (UB2 SLOW)
Summit gave me a credit for the shipping the first time. I tried to get them to pay up front and they refused. I called Jegs and I told them I wanted 3.75 gears for a 3.07 Dana 36. They gave me the same part number as Summit. 49-0110-1. This is for a 2.73 carrier. I told them that and they said I was wrong. I pulled up the Richmond Gear web site and guess what! That part number is for a Dana 36, 2.73 or lower carrier. I called Ecklers this afternoon to confirm my order and I was told that the part was not in stock after all and that they dont know when it would be in. So, here I sit, with my Vet on a lift.
Stuff happens to the best of venders, but I have to say I like Jegs better than Summit. IMHO, Jegs' tech help is much better, the prices are the same and Jegs' ProStock is faster :)
