Im in need of a tune bad but cant find anyone around here in Alabama that will & can dyno tune an OBD1 vehicle. Im thinking of a FAST system or someother stand alone system. Is is worth the money here are my mods. 1990 L98 rebuilt motor and trans (yes auto and shift kit), 355, head work, cam, open air box with KN, ported plenum, 52mm throttle body, edelbrock high flow runners and intake, 24 lb injectors and racetronix 255 high flow fuel pump, new tune up parts ( sensors, plugs, distributor cap/rotor 8.5mm MSD plugs, MSD coil, MSD 6al box) exotic muscle long tube headers & X pipe, no CATs, true dual exhaust, corsa CAT back 3:54 gear ratio and a supposed tune. I want to super charge it down the road and I thought it would be a good thing to have then as well so I dont end up with a generic tune. Any suggestions on a company or product. Or is it even worth it with my mods, the car needs tuned badly. Thanks to all who share.
Call or Email Greg Carroll at Blowerworks. He can probably put a chip together for you that will work well. He's also really helpful, so would probably work with you if it wasn't right. Also, if you're serious about Supercharging, Greg is the guy to talk to for C4s.
I have started an EFI Connection 24x process. I'm into it for about $1300 before turning a wrench. Then I will spend another $500 or so when it's running for a dyno tune, but with an LS computer, at least people can do it. That's all new harness and all of the engine components to put it together. Guys doing it cheaper than me are buying used stuff or re-pinning their harness.
I've thought quite a bit about Fast's EZ EFI 2.0 and their distributor since it controls the timing, but I really want coil per cylinder technology. It's worth it in my opinion.
With the Holley, you can run the coil per cylinder ignition (the main reason I'm switching to LS) and later add in a traction control module from Davis Technologies which is really nice. Not intrusive like factory stuff.
I installed the Dynamic EFI EBL Flash system in my car. It supports 1,2,or 3 BAR map, boost SA retard and fuel multiplier tables, WB VE learn is awesome, and plugs into my laptop without dropping the ECM. It comes with data logging software and I can flash my modified BIN file with the motor running. It does everything I need it to do and is affordable.
You should try Culver Automotive http://culverautospecialties.com/Home.php. Lane Culver is a a guru on Holley EFI stuff and that is why I went to him. Real resonable and can fine tune on a chassis dyno too.
