Default Newest Project!

Well my sbc 434 that servered me well over the last 8+ years may finally be getting a break from racing.

I am now putting a 555CI BBC in the vette! Started the project ~2 weeks ago and should have it installed here in the next two weeks. I already mocked it all up and on the final stages of putting the motor together.

The motor ran 9.6@144MPH in our 67 Chevelle that weighs over 4000lbs. I am shooting for 9.teens@150+MPH....but hoping for some 8s action.

I have not decided, but I may start selling off my 434 sbc stuff - things like M2 Race System heads, Roller Rockers, Solid Lifters, heads, customer single plane intake, headers, and accel DFI and so on. Everything is the best of the best and my sbc street driveable and legal ran 9.8@137MPH. And the car pulled 1.25 60ft times! There were no expenses spared in this setup...

Here is a pic of the 434...

Nice, what headers are you going to use and what induction system?

Hey Brian,

I was going to touch base with you and see how the solid rear setup I supplied is working out....glad you joined this conversation.

I am going to for this season for sake of simplicity run the same super victor/Demon carb that we had in the chevelle. The car was deadly consistent with it in the 10.5 tired chevelle and suspension I built for it....the vette suspension should be even better and MUCH MUCH better weight ratio/distribution. Hoping to see some 1.1X 60ft times once I set it on KILL.

When I mocked it up, I grabbed a setup of 1 7/8 chevelle headers that we had there and they went right up on the drivers side slick as heck. I ordered two sets though - 2" corvette that were listed on Grumpys site, but they seem really short. I also ordered a set of 2inch Chevelle that are full length.

I have not yet had the motor back in to see which ones I like. These sets are just to get me through the race season and then this winter I will custom build some 2.5" like my buddy has on his 572 NOVA that runs 8.7s. I figure it will allow me to adjust to the faster speeds. I watched the nova this weekend and 8s is SAILING in a door car.

If you come across a good set of headers be sure to let me know...I am not looking forward to engineering a custom set, but then again I like a challenge. I am hoping that by the end of the weekend I am down to just running some fuel lines and minor tweaking...not too bad for only starting 2 weeks ago. Have to change the rear gears again that only have 1.5 passes on the ones in there... That was money well spent but another 12MPH I bump the ratio down to have enough RPM.

I am going to a new transmission/transbrake also so my shiftnoid forward shift pattern auto electric shifter is getting replaced with a reverse shift pattern unit...so that i will be for sale likely also. I love their 3 speed solenoid shifters - simple, easy to setup and shifts DEAD consistent to whatever RPM you have it set at....

I just need to get out of work to start wrenching again and of course after the kids baseball game till 8pm!
