There's no reference to the optical pickup but the Brass connections are good
Anybody know about this or comments +/- would be great
Thanks

Given the choice and the aggravation these are to install I would get a vented model....I am a bit skeptical of the 99 buck price. I have zero experience with this brand. I replaced mine back in September with a GM reman that was made in Mexico.

later, tiny

i had bad luck once with a gm acdelco 'remanufactured' optispark where they had replaced bearings and seals but chose to re_use the original mitsubishi optical sensor. In fact they even painted over it with black paint to make it look neW.

This was bought thru gmpartsdirect, who were ****s about returning the defective part they sold me, btw.

i returned it thru a gm dealer and the next acdelco remanufactured appear fine, but its still sitting on my shelf

I got lucky and found a lightly used nos unit. (The kind with the tan epoxy cap)

If yours is the 92 thru 94 unvented kind, you need to add a vent to make it reliable
to answer the op question: i wouldnt trust that pos on ebay.

if you are trying to save money on this part you are gambling with your life. A breakdown on a busy, nighht highway, construction zone with no berm, etc. could cost you your life.

Thats the way i view it.

Absolutely; if that's all it takes I'd go for the later model vented.
You can't Just swap only the Optispark unit for a late model by itself
Instead of the price of replacing it with a vented model I'd go for a Coil on plug conversion. It's not worth changing the timing cover, timing chain, timing gear etc, etc.

Car has original ignition and no failures. (Yet) My consideration is the optical pickup.
Can someone post a photo of exactly how a later model is vented?
Very possible to modify the early model. A vented line from the unit to a higher location with a small waterproof umbrella style cap would work.
Has anyone successfully bought just a high grade Optical sensor alone ?
Thanks for replies

I found a photo of a Petris Optispark.
This is for the early model.
What they've done is cap the venting holes with small plastic hose joints and run a line out to a safe T location
