Default throw out bearing clearnce

I have a 1992 c4 lt1 corvette with a ZF transmission & stock bell housing
I purchased a ram 75-2173 clutch/flywheel kit
it came with a hydraulic throw out bearing 78135
witch they say is the correct kit and bearing for this combination
It seems I need to cut .250 from something or space bell housing .250
from the block to give the bearing the correct free play of .150
have you run in to this

thanks

I think they are talking about the guide pin that goes in the grove that keeps the throw out bearing from turning. It's a long post with a bolt on the other end that replaces one of the bolts that screws into the front of the ZF. If you don't cut enough of it off, it will scrape on the release fingers on the back of the pressure plate and make a hell of a noise. (Knowledge gained from having to pull everything apart AGAIN!)
Follow those measurement instructions carefully or ask a good wrenching friend to check your work to make sure you're looking at it right. I had several friends helping when I did mine and we all missed the guide pin length thing!

P.S. While you have everything apart, take your stock Dual-Mass Flywheel and pressure plate and your NEW ones to a good machine shop and have the new ones 'MATCH BALANCED' to the old ones. I gave RAM all the info on my engine and balance specs and the STILL got it wrong. (Not balanced properly)

The build height of the flywheel clutch should be 2.7" on the lt1
the one I have is at 2.93"
once they get me the correct clutch flywheel I should be good with
throw out bearing free play
the guys at Ram Clutch have been very good helping me figure this out
and are correcting the miss packing

and thanks about the pin length
I will look at that
