Fuel pick-up problem
Pickup problems are usually one of two things. Either the connection between the fuel pump and the fuel delivery tube is bad (pulsator problem or wrong fuel hose used in submerged application), or the stilling well has come loose and the fuel pump is no longer picking up fuel from within it.
If your fuel hose between the pump and the delivery tube looks like this then you need to get some Gates 27093 SUBMERSIBLE fuel line:

If your stilling well (many people call it a windage tray) is not in this position then you need to fix that problem:

That windage tray was loose in my 85, she would loose fuel pressure with even half a tank going around corners.
I cable tied the damned thing onto the fuel sender pump outlet, that solved it. I have not come across anything that can glue it in place, one day i may get another tank with that thing in place.
(have been having issues with the tank colapsing in near the sender float) have to work out why that is happening...
