I had some water damage after storm last week and when I drove thru the puddle (large one) the car started missing when I got out. The next morning it would not start. Someone suggested claim on ins and I did..It was a fight.. State Farm did not want to pay. bearnings bad on water pump so they said the opti was mech malf and not flood damage. While the shop had it apart I went ahead and had them change front seals, timing chain, hoses, opti and cap. When they went to start it they came back and said the computer was bad also. Hope it will come in tomorrow. This was the straw that broke the camels back and State Farm finally came thru with a ck for the opti and computer, labor. This is on a 94 coupe. My question is was the computer really bad? I had a hypertech program loaded and did not put it back stock when I took it in. Did this confuse the chevy dealer or was the computer really shot? The car has been down now for ten days fighting State Farm..They just would not believe high water would take out an opti and I am not sure the dealer helped to selll the idea either. Anyway hope to be riding late tomorrow..
State Farm doesnt know Vettes apparently. I doubt if the Computer was really messed up, they just found the Hypertech programming and didnt like it; but it is possible to fry the computer if the Opti gets fried too.
