I am not too sure about the L98 engine's compression ration, but I do know that for a LT-1 (which has 10.5:1 CR) the most boost that you could have (intercooled that is) is 8 psi to be safe. Some people here have higher boost than that but I believe that 8 psi is the max for a stock engine. Now if your car's engine has forged pistons and piston rings, you could probably go higher.

According to Procharger the P600B or P-1SC should increase your horsepower by about 50-60% (on an LT-1). I am not sure if that would be the same on the L98 due to the runners restriction of air (somebody else on this?).

But I do know this, I currently live in Colorado springs (6400 ft above sea level), and the people that run really good quarter mile times around here have forced induction (turbo or supercharger) that alone will greatly increase your quarter mile times (Due to the thin air at higher elevations, supercharger condenses the air to overcome elevation). Your quarter mile times on a naturally aspirated (no turbo/super) engine up here are about 1 s-1.5s slower.

Hope this helps. I have also researched this and I am planning on doing it soon. If you have any other questions, just email me.

Default I just did this...

Sort of, I too bought a SC and was just going to bolt it on. My vette had a crate motor in it that had 7,000 miles on it. My installer/friend really stressed to me that we atleast put better pistons in it. This was more money than I wanted to spend, but after much debate, we decided to tear it down. What I found was Copper on the bearings, intake gaskets that weren't matched up correctly (and atleast 6psi would have blown them)... etc etc etc.

Once we got started... it just went on and on... If we were going to put pistons, its only "this much for for a crank". So on and so forth untill I had built a good motor. Keeping Stock heads, intakes (siamesed), headers etc, and just doing some good port work, and putting good pieces in them, we were able to keep cost down, and yet still have a strong running car.

One thing I would suggest that if you do put a SC on, is that you Siamese your lower intake. I had mine done for $100 and it looks better than I have ever seen one done on the net.. mags... etc. If you need this done for you, let me know, my machinist can hook you up. This really helps the higher RPM's.
