Default what relay is this.

86 L . If you are standing in front of the car, its next to the wiper motor, just to the right of it.(mounted on the firewall), Has about 5 wires going into it. Bought what I thought was a replacement off a stripped 88 but plug ins are different. Reason needs replaceing is when I bought thecar, the wires going into the relay looked to have shrunk some, causing a shorted out situation burning the first 4 or 5 inches of some of the wires. I wrapped with electrical tape last year, reconnected the wires, but its time to fix correctly. thnks. I believe its the fuel pump relay or overdrive relay but not sure.

Both relays are right there together. Wire colors? The overdrive relay I believe is the "forward" mounted one and the "fuel pump" the rear mounted. Both I believe are attached to the same bracket.

I believe what you bought might be the "overdrive or fuel pump"" relay from the '88 maybe. For an '86 I believe they're a different part # but still the same. '84 - '87 would be the same and '88 and '89 different. You should need 14078915 maybe or just the connector and cut/splice?

If there's a single relay then your cars an A4 and you wouldn't have the pair.

WV is correct. if it's the same as an 85, the relay you are talking about is the fuel pump relay - five (5) wire connector...

FWIW, I would look for the correct relay, and avoid wire splicing - just my 2-cents. BTW, it looks like they are available from GM/Delco...

The car drives so you obviously don't need a relay so I'd just be doing a new connector or just terminals and new wires for the splice. I doubt there's anything wrong with the connector shell. I'll post up some information for you later. I'm struggling with a weather station server right now.

The design of the connectors used on Corvettes changed in 1988. The earlier and later parts are not compatible.

EFI Connection website isn't working @ 3:15 AM but I believe they offer the correct Pack-Con connector with the appropriate colored wires.

You might search eBay for a 210-0182 and see if that matches the connector face that you need. You could buy separate Delphi Pack-Con female terminals BUT it looks like for the price maybe the eBay offering is a good buy. Ignore the model years mentioned in the eBay offering, you're only interested in the connector face.

If EFI Connection website is working maybe shop there first!

https://www.eficonnection.com/

If you wanted to do terminals ONLY scroll down midway in this link and the styles of Pack-Con are displayed. There's actually some very good information in the link:

EFI Connection is back "online" and they don't appear to have it any longer. The eBay price certainly looks attractive unless you'd rather just do terminals and supply your own wire.

You might ask the eBay seller what his colors are and if they're an exact match you'd be all set. Ask the seller to ID his colors by "cavity". There should be A - B - C - D - E.

His image could be just a "stock generic" image.
